FAQs

What is henna?

Henna is a dye prepared from the plant Lawsonia inermis. It is also temporary and can be put on different parts of the body.

How long does the henna last?

Henna can last anywhere from 1-2 weeks depending on how you take care of it.

How can I preserve my henna?

Applying oils, shea butter, or beeswax to the area before taking a shower, and wearing gloves when washing dishes.

What are the different types of henna I Use?

Natural Brown henna (which stains a brown color) This is completely organic and made from a natural plant used to make henna.

Jagua (which stains a dark blue black stain) This is completely organic and made from Genipa americana. This plant is grown in South America. It also contains lavender essential oil. It is also safe to use.

Hair Dye (a premixed powder and shows to appear a very black stain) This also contains Paraphenylenediamine (PPD) is a chemical substance that is widely used as a permanent hair dye. This mix is not organic and I would not recommend this option if you have sensitive skin.

What is the aftercare?

For the  natural brown henna it is recommended to keep on 6-8 hours or you can keep it on for 24 hours if you would like to have a really dark stain.

You would need to scrape it off using a butter knife. Make sure to apply oil before you scrape it off so that it makes the process easier

Jagua is to be kept on for two hours. Rinse it off with soap and water. It will appear very light but will darken from 12-48 hours. You will then apply oil to the area and avoid any water contact for at least four hours. Especially hot water so that it can begin to darken.

Hair Dye is a very quick and easy process. Once it dries, you will then peel it off and throw the dried pieces. Make sure to not leave it anywhere because it will stain where ever you leave it.
